General English (Beginner to Advanced)

Our General English course is designed to help you communicate confidently in everyday situations. Whether you’re traveling, working, or living in an English-speaking country, this course will improve your conversation skills and enhance your ability to interact in real-life scenarios.

Course overview

The General English course is designed to prepare you for conversation, everyday situations and daily interactions that take place when travelling or living in an English-speaking country. The course is offered over 6 levels, from beginner level to advance as below:
 
  1. Starter level 
  2. Elementary
  3. Pre-Intermediate level
  4. Intermediate level
  5. Upper Intermediate level
  6. Advanced level 

Who Should Apply For This Course and Why? 

Anyone who is seeking to improve their English language skills! 

A summary description of the outcomes for each level is provided below: 

Level 1 – Starter

  • Understand and use familiar everyday expressions and basic phrases 
  • Introduce yourself and others
  • Ask and answer questions about personal details 
  • Conduct simple interactions with others

Level 2 – Elementary

  • Understand and use sentences
  • Use common expressions 
  • Communicate in situations requiring a simple and direct exchange of information on familiar and routine matters

Level 3 – Pre-Intermediate

  • Understand key points
  • Write simple texts 
  • Talk about yourself

Level 4 – Intermediate

  • Understand the main ideas of complex texts
  • Interact easily with others
  • Produce clear, detailed text

Level 5 – Upper Intermediate

  • Understand demanding, longer texts 
  • Recognize meaning
  • Express yourself fluently
  • Produce clear, well-structured and detailed text

Level 6 – Advanced

  • Understand with ease virtually everything heard or said
  • Summarize information from different spoken and written sources
  • Express yourself spontaneously, fluently and precisely

 

This course is delivered face-to-face in a classroom-based setting. The timetable for this course will be advised in your Offer Letter and Student Agreement.

You are required to attend classes for 20 hours per week for the number of weeks that you enrolled into. This will depend on your English language level as tested through a placement test. Holiday breaks are as indicated in your timetable.

Class sessions include a mix of different activities to help you improve your English language skills.

In addition to classroom-based learning, you will also need to complete approximately 5 hours of additional, unsupervised study per week.

You will also need to complete assessments for this course which may include:  

  • written questions 
  • assignments 
  • presentations 
  • role plays  
  • research  
  • reports 

At the beginning of each unit, your teacher will outline the assessment tasks that must be completed. 

Your classes will be conducted in modern classrooms and you will be able to access Wi-Fi. There are also areas for you to relax, conduct additional study and access additional resources to help you with your course.
